Luna Nuda Pinot Grigio is estate-grown, handpicked, and hand-sorted in Italy’s Alto Adige Valley at Castelfeder Winery. Bright, crisp flavors of golden delicious apple and citrus flow through this wine with just a hint of alpine air and minerality – flavors that embody the terroir of Italy’s northernmost wine growing region. Crispiness combined with a good sapidity are the key words for this wine.
The grapes are de-stemmed and pressed before undergoing primary fermentation for about 10 days in stainless steel tanks. Our Pinot Grigio spends 4 months in stainless steel tanks before being bottled, and we use bentonite for fining the wine to remove any unwanted colloids. The wine is filtered before bottling.
This vintage was hand harvested from late August through mid-September in Bassa Atesina Valley, Alto Adige. The vineyard sits at 600 feet elevation in an Alpine climate. The soil is limestone with high chalk content influenced by alluvial states. The vines are are between 5 and 20 years old and use both Guyot and Pergola vine training and pruning systems. The harvested grapes were notable for their sugar, acidity balance.
