5 Easy Italian Dinner Recipes for Wine Night

Five simple Italian dinners — mostly pasta and chicken, all weeknight-easy — each paired with the Luna Nuda wine that makes them better.

October 28, 2026

You don't need a special occasion to pour a good bottle with dinner — you need a dinner worth pouring it next to. These five are all genuinely weeknight-easy (nothing here takes more than 35 minutes), and each one is paired with the Luna Nuda wine that actually makes it taste better, not just whatever's already open in the fridge.

Weeknight Rigatoni with Sausage and Red Sauce

Brown a pound of mild or hot Italian sausage (casings removed) in a deep pan, then add a jar or can of good crushed tomatoes, a smashed garlic clove, and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Simmer 15 minutes while the rigatoni cooks, then toss together with a splash of pasta water and a handful of grated parmesan. That's it — no long braise, no all-day sauce.

Pour with: Luna Nuda Red Blend. The sauce's acidity and the sausage's richness both need a wine with enough body to keep up, and Red Blend's berry character doesn't get lost next to the tomato the way a lighter red would.

Pan-Seared Lemon Chicken Piccata

Pound chicken breasts thin, dredge lightly in flour, and sear in butter and olive oil until golden, about 3 minutes a side. Deglaze the pan with a splash of wine and chicken broth, add a squeeze of lemon and a spoonful of capers, and let it reduce for a couple of minutes before spooning it back over the chicken.

Pour with: Luna Nuda Pinot Grigio. Piccata's whole point is brightness — lemon, capers, a little acid — and Pinot Grigio's crisp citrus notes echo that instead of competing with it.

Creamy Mushroom and Herb Chicken

Sear chicken thighs until golden, remove from the pan, then sauté sliced mushrooms in the same pan until they release their liquid and brown. Add a splash of cream, a spoonful of Dijon, and fresh thyme, then return the chicken to finish cooking in the sauce, about 10 minutes covered.

Pour with: Luna Nuda Rosé. The dish's richness needs something with enough fruit to cut through the cream, and Rosé's strawberry and citrus notes do exactly that without turning the plate into a heavier red-wine dinner.

Simple Spaghetti Aglio e Olio

This is the recipe to keep in your back pocket for the nights you didn't plan dinner at all. Thinly slice a handful of garlic cloves and cook them gently in olive oil until just golden — not browned, or it turns bitter. Toss with cooked spaghetti, a generous amount of red pepper flakes, chopped parsley, and enough pasta water to bring it together into a light sauce.

Pour with: Pinot Grigio. There's no tomato here to anchor a red wine — this dish wants something crisp and light that won't overpower four ingredients doing all the work.

Sheet Pan Sausage and Peppers

Toss sliced sausage, bell peppers, and red onion with olive oil and roast at 425°F for 25 minutes, stirring once. Toss the roasted vegetables and sausage with cooked pasta, a spoonful of the pan drippings, and a handful of parmesan. One pan, minimal cleanup, and it tastes like it took longer than it did.

Pour with: Red Blend. The char on the roasted peppers and the richness of the sausage both call for a fuller-bodied wine that can stand up to them.

Making It a Wine Night, Not Just Dinner

None of these recipes require planning ahead or a special trip to the store — that's the point. The wine is what turns an ordinary Tuesday dinner into something worth sitting down for a little longer. For more on why these particular pairings work, see How to Pair Italian Wine with Food, or start a spread with the appetizers from our Easy Italian Appetizers post before the main course.

Pour What Pairs

All five Luna Nuda wines — Red Blend, Pinot Grigio, and Rosé among them — are built to make a regular weeknight dinner feel like a little more of an occasion, without asking you to plan one.
